Abstract

This paper presents a new approach to analyzing the behavior of school principals in implementing school literacy programs. This study uses a qualitative approach. Qualitative data were collected through interviews with principals from four schools (two urban schools and two rural schools) in Cirebon. Data were analyzed using qualitative data analysis procedures, namely data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions. The principal's behavior will be analyzed using the Principal's 4Es leadership typology: Energy, Energize, Execution, Edge. This method is used to gain insight into the behavior and management of school principals in implementing the school literacy movement program. The research findings show that school principals have different energy levels, school principals manage school literacy movement programs by applying elements of management, school heads motivate teachers and students in implementing school literacy movements, school principals have different decision-making abilities. This research has implications for research results that can be used as a basis for decision making for policy makers.
