ABSTRACT

Learning approach is knowledge about how to teach that is used by the teacher and the instructor. In Physical education, the teacher must be able to choose an effective approach and can be optimized in order to make students understand about the learning material. The writer tried to compare between game approach and conventional approach. The method that was used in this research is experiment. There were 30 students from swimming club “Kampoeng Belajar SC” that was taken as population. By using saturation sampling, that is taking a whole population as sample, as many as 30 students were taken as sample that would be divided into two groups: group A and group B. Based on data analysis the writer concluded that: 1) in group A which was given treatment game approach has significant influence towards crawl stroke swimming with t test as many as 11.11 and degree of freedom = 14 that is 2.977; 2) in group B which was given treatment conventional approach has significant influence towards crawl stroke swimming with t table as many as 3.52 and degree of freedom = 14 that is 2.977; and 3) based on the calculation of the results from group A and group B, the t table of group A is bigger that t test of group B (11.11 > 3.52). It means that game approach gives more significant result than conventional approach towards the study result of crawl stroke swimming in swimming club “Kampoeng Belajar SC”
